If you own a HP laptop model DV2000, DV6000, DV9000 and have experiences issues such as Black screen or the computer turn on but won't boot. There is a class action lawsuit against HP and it have been ongoing for the past 2 years and still ongoing.  The cause of this matter is that the design of the laptop was so poorly done that the GPU (graphic card) over heat and eventually refused to turn on.  If you take it to any BestBuy, Futureshop or any other computer repair location they will recommend you to replace the motherboard.  This is not the solution.  This is nothing more than a money grab and will happens again within a year.
